Greenrail, an Italian company, which has designed and patented in 79 countries a new concept of an innovative and eco-sustainable railway sleeper, made of recycled plastic and rubber collected from End-of-Life Tyres, which allows the reuse of 35 tonnes of said urban waste per 1 kilometer of a rail line, has been selected among 6.000 international projects as the only Italian company in the EXPO 2017’s Energy Best Practice Area, dedicated to the sustainable energy of future. “The performance of Greenrail’s products and technology – claims the company’s CEO Giovanni De Lisi – surpass these of traditional sleepers in concrete, not only from the environmental point of view: Greenrail sleeper has a longer lifespan, reduces ballast pulverization, increases resistance to the lateral displacement, and decreases noise and vibration levels” – he concluded.
